You know what, we're gonna take the opportunity to lay down a little revisionist history on old Scott Summers. So often dismissed as a wet blanket, a pretty boring X-Man who plays by the rules way too much - people much prefer the berserker unpredictability of team mate Wolverine - we want to set the record straight, and remind you that Cyclops was chosen to lead Professor Xavier's premier team for a reason. And besides the fact that he can follow orders, keep people in line and do the usual captain stuff, it's because he can be pretty badass from time to time. Besides the aforementioned Magneto head-splosion in the pages of Grant Morrison's run, the most recent example of Scott going HAM on someone came in Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's Astonishing X-Men. Whedon aimed to return the team to superherodom during his time on the book, beginning with Cyclops - which meant he got any number of opportunities to prove his mettle. During a Sentinel attack on the school he reminded us how powerful his optic blasts were by decimating it in one shot, a trick he repeated during the above sequence, exploding an entire space station, knocking out his captors and escaping a space prison in one go. Now that's badass.
