20 Worst Ever Comic Book Sidekicks

12. Alpha (Spider-Man)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #692 (August 2012) As one of the most powerful sidekicks on this list, Alpha has the potential to be a popular hero in his own right but instead, he's just a moron. Andrew Maguire first received his powers after an experiment went wrong at the high school where Peter Parker worked. Feeling responsible for the accident, Spider-Man decided to mentor Maguire, offering to guide him as a fledgling superhero sidekick. That's all well and good but Alpha proved to be too much to handle even for Spidey, who had to ultimately de-power the young hero after he carelessly put civilians lives in danger during a mission with the Avengers. Poor kid. Sidekicks aren't always very popular but when your own mentor doesn't even want anything to do with you, then you know you've done something seriously wrong. If only he'd gone with the name Spider-Boy. Guaranteed winner!
