20 Worst Ever Comic Book Sidekicks

13. Cheeks (Ambush Bug)

First Appearance: Ambush Bug #1 (June 1985) Ambush Bug is insane. He's possibly the most insane character in the entire DC universe, so it's only fitting that his sidekick is even more ridiculous. That's a tough call but creator Keith Giffen exceeded all expectations with Cheeks, the Toy Wonder. Ambush Bug first met Cheeks when he fell off the back of a garbage truck and crashed through his window. After adopting Cheeks as his ward, Ambush Bug dressed him up as a super hero and together the two ventured out to fight crime. Cheeks eventually died in the line of duty, but then returned briefly as a zombie before being cured and restored to his natural state. Oh, did I forget to mention that Cheeks is a doll? That's right. A doll. Depending on your sense of humor, Cheeks is either a genius creation or the most absurd thing you've ever heard of. Either way, he definitely deserves a place on this list, mostly because the ability to lie stationary like a doll is not particularly helpful if a super villain shows up.
