5 Reasons Why Emma Frost May Save Mutantkind (And 5 Reasons Why She'll Be Their Death)

Emma Frost runs the Hellfire Trading Company as the White Queen to distribute the medicines internationally created on Krakoa. The Captain of the ship the Marauder, Kate Pryde was made the Red Queen and given the second seat on the Quiet Council. This caused problems for Sebastian Shaw, who was scheming to take over the Hellfire Corporation for himself. He had planned to place his own son Shinobi as Red King but would now have to eliminate Kate to do so, which was against Krakoan law.

Shaw got Kate Pryde and Lockheed out alone and used Krakoan vines to immobilize them. The vines dragged Kate down in the water and she drowned, but Lockheed escaped. The dragon made his way to Frost and she read his mind, seeing that Shaw was responsible and knowing that there may be hope for Kate’s resurrection, which had failed 17 times.

The two Queens invaded Sebastian Shaw’s home at Blackstone and exacted their revenge upon him, beating him half to death, confining him to a wheelchair, and missing an eye thanks to Lockheed. They made sure Sebastian realized how much his greed cost him. However, if not for Shaw’s clumsy arrogance and a series of lucky breaks, Emma would have not only lost Kate but everything she had built on Krakoa.
