5 Reasons Why Emma Frost May Save Mutantkind (And 5 Reasons Why She'll Be Their Death)

6. Death: Emma’s Acquisition Of Wealth Was Not Always By The Most Ethical Means

Emma Frost
Marvel Comics

Even though Emma Frost was born into a family of wealth, she is, in many ways, a self-made woman. And that is commendable, but the way that she achieved her wealth hasn’t always been through the most legal or ethical means. She has used her telepathy to aid her in her business dealings more than once, giving her a definite advantage over her opponents.

Emma’s boyfriend owed money to loan sharks and tried to stage a kidnapping and force her father to pay a ransom. But Frost used her powers to free herself, kept the money for herself, and moved to New York City. She increased her wealth significantly when she took over the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that she renamed Frost International.

Initially asking her sister Adrienne for financial help with the Massachusetts Academy, Emma’s sister turned on her and trapped her and Generation X in mental prisons that they only escaped when Frost murdered her sibling. This action cost Frost the school and the team, but she gained her sister's wealth and took it to Genosha. There, she opened another school and began teaching until the whole island was destroyed by a Sentinel attack.
