5 Reasons Why Emma Frost May Save Mutantkind (And 5 Reasons Why She'll Be Their Death)

2. Death: Emma’s Been Extremely Untrustworthy Many Times

Emma Frost
Marvel Comics

Even after making her turn away from villainy and becoming a member of the X-Men, Emma was involved in several activities that could be considered dubious at best. In X-Men Legacy #215, Frost forces her way into the mind of Charles Xavier. She makes him relive every mistake and questionable decision “for his own good ” to make him move on with his life. Worse, Emma makes Charles relive the death of his long-time friend and former lover Moira MacTaggert.

After the Skrulls’ defeat at the end of the Secret Invasion, Frost appeared as a member of Norman Osborn’s villainous Cabal. The group includes herself, Osborn, Doctor Doom, Loki, Namor, and the Hood who are manipulating events for their own benefit. She also helms her own team of “Dark X-Men” that replaces the core X-Men team, calling them a “dangerous militia.”

Following the Secret Wars, Emma Frost was one of the X-Men that discovered that the Terrigen Mists were toxic to mutants, and she led the others to believe that Black Bolt had killed Cyclops. Frost declared all-out war on the Inhumans but it was revealed that she had lied and Cyclops had succumbed to the mists in their initial exposure. When Medusa learned that the Earth-bound mists were toxic to mutants, she immediately destroyed them. Frost then went on the run from both the X-Men and the Inhumans.
