6 Comics With Incredibly Unique Art (That You Probably Haven't Read)
1. A.D.: After Death
A.D.: After Death is one of those comics that comes along every once in a while that is clearly something special.
Scott Snyder is a writer who has earned his place in the comics industry and this 3-part miniseries shows why. After Death tells the story of a world after the cure for death has been found and the last of humanity live forever in an isolated mountain retreat protected from an earth that has died long ago below them. Snyder's vision is one that is as dark as it is hopeful, balancing both to find a true interpretation of immortality.
The comic is told partly in the world post the cure, with the protagonist Jonah Cooke living his life in the retreat, and partly before the cure, his parents and his criminal life. Using this, Snyder feeds you the comic in drabs, not revealing the full picture until far into the story
This is brilliantly realised in Jeff Lemire's artwork which puts Snyder's story into vivid colour. This leads to some 2-page spreads that stand out as some of the most beautiful pieces of comic art you can find.
Read A.D.: After Death. It is nothing short of amazing.
