6 Interesting Versions Of Cyclops Across The Multiverse

1. Space Pirate Cyclops

MUTANT X (EARTH-1298 ) More often than not we are introduced to these new realities through the eyes of a mainstream character. In this case, the Mutant X series explored the 616 Havok as he was lost to an alternate reality where he, instead of his brother Cyclops, had been at the forefront of the mutant movement. This led to a great deal of changes in the reality, which generally saw many of the heroic characters like Reed Richards and Professor Xavier go bad, with noted villains like Apocalypse and Magneto acting as heroes. So with Havok becoming the star of the show, where does that leave his older brother Cyclops? Surprisingly enough, it leaves him as a happy, carefree, swashbuckling pirate in space as the leader of the Starjammers. In the 616, this role is held by Scott and Alex's father, Christopher Summers AKA Corsair. Whereas in the 616 Scott and Alex are orphaned early when Christopher Summers and his wife are abducted by the Shi'ar (a race of aliens with many connections to the X-Men), in the Mutant X reality Scott was also taken captive, with much of his life presumably echoing that of Corsair's in the 616.
Major Character Differences The first visible difference is the fact that in almost every appearance of this character in the Mutant X series, he is smiling. Having lived a life away from Earth and the pressures of the mutant population heaped on his shoulders, Cyclops managed to find a unique family that allows the core values of the character to shine fully. As a leader to the Starjammers, lover of fellow 'jammer Carol Danvers, and fully serving as the fun big brother,, this version of Cyclops reflects the 616 version closely while offering a vastly different life for the character. A life that apparently offered him the happiness he is so frequently denied in the 616.

Honorable Mentions

Cyclops - Forever Yesterday Set in an alternate timeline - the same one that X-Man Bishop hails from - Scott Summers has relied on technology and robotics to extend his life as he continues to fight for mutantkind. He is joined by his daughter Ruby Summers, who will eventually play a leading role in the "Summers Rebellion". Mr. S - Earth X This potential future story shows us yet another path that Scott Summers could take. As Plague X changes the Marvel Universe, retired hero Scott Summers takes in a group of abandoned circus performers and trains them in the use of their strangeness as his X-Men. Just don't call him Professor. The Summers Boy - Ruin Warren Ellis' bleak parody of the Marvel universe sees the development of the heroic age very differently, with mutants imprisoned and disfigured to remove their abilities. Young Scott Summers was blinded by the government and locked away by President X after the manifestation of his optic blasts killed his family. Cyclops - The Cancerverse Easily one of the most drastic variations of all realities has to be the Cancerverse, which was first seen during the Thanos Imperative. The universe is a realm that exists without death, where everything is eventually corrupted. The X-Men exist as mutated Brood-like creatures that barely resemble their 616 counterparts.
