8 Best Times X-Men Joined The Avengers
When mutants meet Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Ever since Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch first joined up with Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, way back in 1965, the bonds between the X-Men and the Avengers have been tight.
Oh, sure, they haven't always been on the best of terms, even going so far as to have an all-out war in 2012 during the Avengers vs. X-Men crossover, but usually you can find these two teams fighting side by side when the need arises.
It seems that whenever Earth's Mightiest Heroes need to bolster their ranks or have a complete reshuffle of the deck, they will, more than likely, turn to the mutant populace for help and fresh reinforcements. This has been done to varying degrees of success but the overall consensus seems to have been a positive one, with fans worldwide taking to these new additions of old favorites eagerly.
But which tenures have been the best? Not every X-Man to have joined the Avengers has made a good impression, but those who have went onto develop a synonymy with both teams.
Fans may complain about certain characters being oversaturated, but that doesn't detract from how good an alliance the one between the Avengers and X-Men has proven to be.
8. Beast
Back in 1976, Marvel was trying to get Henry McCoy into every comic book they possibly could. This included Amazing Adventures, where he would transform into his now familiar blue furry self, as well as any horror title they could think of. But they finally found him a new home with the Avengers, in issue #137.
With Earth's Mightiest Heroes actively seeking out new members, to the point where Thor actually does a public service announcement that informs the world they're hiring, the process doesn't exactly go according to plan.
Most applicants are rejected by Black Panther, Captain America, and Hercules to name just three ,but all is not lost, as Edward G Robinson shows up to claim his place.
It turns out that this is just Beast in disguise and he arrives just in time, as The Stranger attacks the assembled heroes and they have to fight him off. With Thor, Iron Man, Wasp, and Hank Pym all incapacitated by floating mines, it's left to Hank to fight his way through and save the day. Beast would become a key member of the Avengers, Secret Avengers and Illuminati, and he's been brilliant in each of them.
