8 Comics That Would Sell More If The Lead Character Was Replaced

3. Iron Fist

Iron Fist was created in 1974 by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. This was a time when more traditional martial arts movies were cool. Bruce Lee was cool. Even through the 80's that was all pretty cool. In 2015, Danny Rand (Iron Fist) still feels, well...a bit 1970s. This is evidenced by the fact that Rand's power, granted to him by plunging his hands into the molten heart of a dragon, is brought out by channeling his "chi". None of it really rings true with modern comic book heroism. When you consider that Iron Fist tends to hang out with cool characters like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil, Iron Fist is in desperate need of a creative overhaul. Danny Rand has been through a lot. An engagement, a false pregnancy with his girlfriend, a death-like stasis. Perhaps Rand decides to focus more on his personal life after discovering a young, aspiring MMA fighter in New York City (MMA is way more zeitgeist in 2015) who is worthy to be the next Iron Fist. Rand could mentor this diamond-in-the-rough and eventually let him off his chain to fight crime in the Big Apple. It's got to be better than yet another attempt to rekindle "Heroes for Hire".
