8 Most Brutal Things Magneto Has Ever Done

4. Killed His Own Son - House Of M

Scalphunter Magneto
Marvel Comics

House of M is one of the biggest comic book tales in modern-day Marvel history. Centred on Scarlet Witch changing the entire reality of the Marvel Universe, the all-encompassing story sees a new existence created by the fair hand of Wanda Maximoff.

Spread across a whole variety of Marvel Comics titles of the day, the 2005 House of M arc flipped the Marvel Universe on its head and saw Wanda altering reality in an attempt to recreate her lost offspring. In the process of doing so, Scarlet Witch creates a new world where the wishes and dreams of various heroes all come true. But as a side effect of that, Wolverine's greatest wish is to have his long lost memories restored. In doing just that, this means that Logan is one of the elite few who remember that this is not how the world is meant to be, and that Wanda has gone insane and created chaos.

It's down to Wolvie to try and convince others that what they believe is not actually true and right, and part of the process sees him reveal to Magneto - who is actually the ruler of this new world - what has really happened. Magneto, discovering that his son Quicksilver had manipulated his unhinged sister Wanda, seeks vengeance on Pietro for tarnishing the family's name.

Snapping at his son, Magneto rains down giant chunks of steel onto Quicksilver - killing him in the process.

And by the time all was said and done with this, Scarlet Witch uttered the words "no more mutants" and changed reality yet again. This time to one where only a few hundred people have mutant abilities, rather than the thousands previously.
