8 Reasons To Look Forward To Phoenix Resurrection: The Return Of Jean Grey

4. A Chance For The Mutants To Not Be The Victims

The last few major events to involve the X-Men have seen them be on the victim side of things. Here, they could be taking charge.

House of M. Decimation. Messiah CompleX. Avengers vs. X-Men. Inhumans vs. X-Men. Even to some extent Secret Empire. For a long while, the role of mutants in events has been that of the victim.

Rarely are they the instigators of the action, but rather the ones reacting to it. Whether they're hunted, facing extinction, or a toxic death cloud's wiping them out in a world that, all too often, reacted with nothing more than a shrug and a 'bummer, man', mutants have had something of a rough time when it comes to events.

Well, perhaps this mini-event will address that and see the X-Men and mutants leading the action and taking a more active role in the future.

They're getting a huge cosmic force back on their side, right? And at a time at Marvel where cosmic forces are swirling around the Earth in a manner that implies a PRETTY BIG DEAL THING IS COMING, perhaps Phoenix returning here first could be something that actually starts the ball rolling towards that.
