8 Reasons To Look Forward To Phoenix Resurrection: The Return Of Jean Grey

1. The Return Of Jean Grey

We've had a teenage Jean Grey running around for a while, but it's about time to see the character we really all fell in love with back in the spotlight.

This really is the number one reason to pick up the book - the Jean Grey we all fell in love with is coming back, and that can only mean good things for the X-Men.

Jean was always one of the most beloved parts of the X-Men, and whenever her character is out of the picture, it feels like something is missing. She's very much the heart of the team, and the most representative of what the mutant analogy truly means.

Yes, she looks 'normal', but that hides just how profoundly different she is, and how the power and emotions of this difference can feel overwhelming at times to the point that it can even destroy planets at a time.

We've had a teenage version of Jean Grey running around for a few years now, but it's just never felt the same. This isn't the character people grew up with, it isn't the woman whose calm facade hides an all-powerful being of such immensity that she can literally do anything underneath. Instead, teen Jean has often felt kind of whiny, privileged and, sadly, annoying.

This is one of those moments where bringing back the true original can only be a good thing, and seeing the adult, Phoenix Jean Grey coming back after such a long time away from the comics has us very excited for December.
