Batman: 10 Controversial Moments We’ll Never See On Screen

5. Batman's Muslim Sidekick

batman-muslim-sidekick Batman Inc. is shaping up to be quite the controversial comic book by stepping on racial land mines here and there. That's the new storyline where Batman recruits various heroes from across the globe to form a network of crime fighters. The latest addition to the network is Night Runner, a Paris born hero with a thing for parkour. Unfortunately, like those before him, Night Runner is attracting the wrong publicity over his true nature; he's a Muslim of Algerian descent. Sadly, Muslims haven't been treated equally in light of the 9/11 attacks, though that's no reason to condemn an entire race. Still, right wingers all agree that this addition to the DC Comics is an atrocity, and sadly, Hollywood sometimes gives in to the right wing politics. Thanks to that, we've never seen a single costume-wearing Muslim appear in a Batman film. Damn.
