Marvel Legacy: 8 Reasons The Fans Should Be Worried
4. Legacy Needs More Diversity
Marvel has a solid track record when it comes to embracing diversity and inclusiveness, but with Legacy it feels like they're playing it safe on this front.
Black Panther and the Crew, and Mosaic - two great titles with a predominantly black cast - were swiftly announced and cancelled, with the House of M blaming their below-par sales on racism, rather than admitting they didn't promote them enough.
The Legacy line is very much weighted towards what sells, and while there's some gender and ethnic diversity in there, taking more risks in this regard would have established Marvel as a forward-thinking publisher.
The diversity issue also extends to theme of the 53 comic books - all of them bar Monsters Unleashed is basically a superhero title.
Obviously this is the essence of Marvel of a company, but with such a broad line at its disposal, surely there was room for more experimentation?
