Star Wars: 10 Best Expanded Universe Comics From The New Canon
6. Chewbacca (2015)
One of the original heroes from the Original trilogy, it was only a matter of time before Marvel released a mini-series for the classic hero.
Written by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) and drawn by Phil Noto (Black Widow), the five-issue mini-series depicted the titular hero in an adventure post the battle of Yavin after he crashes on an Imperial occupied planet. Stranded without the means to fix his ship and unable to contact the rebellion, Chewie must work with a feisty young girl to help her free her family and find a means to leave the planet.
Duggan plots a fantastic arc for Chewbacca, with the Wookie warrior's arc reflected in the young girl he encounters. With an added language barrier between the two characters, Noto's fantastic art tells the majority of the story perfectly.
Chewbacca (2015) is a fulfilling read, and is a must-read for any Star Wars fan - especially those with a soft-spot for Chewie.
