Mark Waid and Terry Dodson are two names always bound to get comic book fans excited, so to see them on a Star Wars book in 2015 understandably caused a lot of excitement.

Like most other Star Wars books of the Marvel era, Princess Leia takes place in between the events of A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. However, the trick here is that Leia gets all the space necessary to lead her own story, and Waid's writing more than captures Carrie Fisher's voice on the films.

Showcasing the princess as she comes to terms with Alderaan's destruction and of her determination to take the fight to the Empire, Princess Leia enriches our understanding of Fisher's character and does so while crafting a fun, entertaining story.

Also, in the grand tradition of Leia rocking Star Wars' best costumes, artist Terry Dodson crafts some truly memorable looks for the character in the series. A neat bonus, but one that compliments the wider series' exploration of Organa's character.
