Why Comic Fans Hate Cyclops

1. His Relationship With Emma Frost

Cyclops Evolution
Marvel Comics

For the longest time, as a member of the infamous Hellfire Club, Emma Frost was one of the X-Men's greatest foes. That was until Grant Morrison decided to bring the White Queen into the X-fold.

With Jean Grey alive at this point, but with her marriage to Cyclops on the rocks, recent new X-Men member Frost decides to offer some counsel to Scott Summers - or rather, tries to seduce him. Despite initially spurring Emma's advances, Cyke would give in to what became labelled as a "psychic affair."

In these moments of sordid psychic shenanigans, it even got to the point where Emma Frost would dress up like Jean Grey to help Scott get his kink on.

Unfortunately, Jean Grey is one of the greatest psychic beings in the history of Marvel Comics, and thus her powers made her fully aware of what Cyclops and Frost were getting up to. Scott was adamant that all of this wasn't technically cheating, as nothing physically happened - it was all just conjured in their minds.

Skipping ahead slightly, Jean would die (again!), but a future Jean would travel back to the present day to talk Cyclops out of quitting the X-Men and encourage him to strike up a relationship with Emma Frost. Eager to jump at this 'get out of jail free' moment, Scott and Emma share their first physical kiss... at Jean Grey's grave!

You stay classy, San Diego.
