Wolverine's 10 Worst Ever Days

5. The Weapon X Program

Wolverine Birthday
Marvel Comics

The Weapons Plus programme has been responsible for the creation of many Super Soldiers within the Marvel Universe. Classic characters like Captain America and Wolverine to recent characters like Rex Strickland and the American Kaiju all stem from the Weapons Plus programme.

For Wolverine, the Weapon X programme is far more traumatic and is the root cause of many of the issues that have plagued him since his debut. Kidnapped, drugged, tortured and experimented on, it is safe to say he was not a willing participant.

To turn him into a living weapon, adamantium was forceable grafted to his bones, and they wiped Logan's mind with the hope to focus his baser instincts and make him compliant. However, his baser instincts were more than Weapon X could handle. He quickly broke free, slaughtering everyone in his path, destroying the Weapon X facility.

The Weapon X programme robbed Logan of his identity and the knowledge of his own abilities and nature. It would not be until much later that he would learn about his past and the nature of his powers. Though even with his memories returned, the trauma of Weapon X still lingers.
