X-Men: 10 Actors Who Could Play The MCU’s Magneto

Mortensen is so good an actor that it's quite easy to forget just how much work he has done. While everyone undoubtedly knows (and loves) him for his turn as Aragorn, the hero of The Lord of the Rings, there's an underbelly of performances that prove he's way more than just the King of Gondor - spoiler alert(?).

The actor has given some breathtaking performances in movies like The Road, Green Book, Eastern Promises, Captain Fantastic and plenty more. One of the best ways to describe him is versatile, as he immerses himself so firmly into his roles that it's hard to recognise him. Thus, as Magneto, he would surely create something entirely unique.

Another aspect of Mortensen that makes him great for this role is something indescribable. The man has an X-factor that makes him feel mysterious and awe-inspiring, possibly thanks to his slow and deliberate speech and intent-filled eyes. This makes all his characters seem like they have rich pasts that influence them, which would be entirely appropriate for Erik Lehnsherr, as he does have a traumatic origin story. He's an actor who could bring that storied past to the forefront of his performance.
