X-Men: 10 Actors Who Could Play The MCU’s Magneto
2. Jason Isaacs
There are times when an actor seems born to play a role, and the MCU seems to have a direct line into that. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers are the go-to examples of this, but bringing in the formidable Jason Isaacs to play the role of Magneto could also give Marvel more credit for their casting clairvoyance.
Isaacs is an actor who thrives on being intimidating, despite remaining as stoic and restrained as possible. If anything, he's even scarier when he's holding back, as you can tell there's something deep and dangerous hiding behind his patient façade. This is something that would help his version of Erik to feel like a ticking time bomb and the perfect foil to the X-Men.
Besides being frightening and intense, he's also great at being pathetic - as seen best in his role of Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter. While this, in itself, won't do much for Magneto, it does at least prove that he can bring a vulnerability to the character that could make him all the more nuanced and relatable, luring you into liking him, despite his villainous ways.
