So this guy basically just has the power to turn any object a different color. That's fun in Photoshop and everything, and would probably make a super cool Skittles commercial, but it's difficult to think of the real world applications of this power in terms of fighting evil supervillains. You could maybe mess with them by turning their well thought out uniforms from complementary to clashing colors, which would probably throw them off their game a little bit?

To be completely fair, Color Lad makes the most of his abilities. He's got some pretty good camouflaging skills, and is able to temporarily blind people by shooting the color black at them. But on the whole, he sort of just feels like he's one of the kids in Sky High who has a mediocre superpower that lands him in sidekick training until there is a convoluted scenario that just happens to create the perfect opportunity to best utilize his power (which is basically exactly what the Legion of Substitute Heroes is). Not DC franchise material. Although a Legion of Substitute Heroes ensemble comedy would probably be pretty awesome.
