10 Actors Who Deeply Regret Starring In Comic Book Movies

6. Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is going to be able to take a crack at the superhero genre later this year when he starts shooting Gambit, but the last time he played a comic book character didn't go too well. As Duke in the critically panned G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, the actor delivered the kind of performance which left many under the impression that he's a terrible actor, though that's no surprise considering the fact he didn't want to be there! "I f**king hate that movie. I hate that movie," the Jump Street star revealed in an interview last year. "I was pushed into doing that movie. €˜Coach Carter,€™ they signed me for a three-picture deal. And as a young , you€™re like, €˜Oh my god, that sounds amazing, I€™m doing that!' The script wasn€™t any good. I didn€™t want to do something that I thought was 1) bad, and 2) I just didn€™t know if I wanted to be G.I. Joe." That explains why his character was killed off so quickly in the sequel then, and Tatum has obviously since impressed in the likes of Magic Mike and Foxcatcher. Of course, that didn't stop him from saying yes to Jupiter Ascending (another movie he didn't seem too keen on during a recent Reddit Q&A), and while Gambit seems somewhat risky, it's probably fair to say that we'll never see him back in the world of G.I. Joe either way!
