10 Actors Who Hated Working Together

2. Tommy Lee Jones & Jim Carrey - Batman Forever

As much as Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey basically seem like they're having the time of their lives on Batman Forever playing supervillains Two-Face and The Riddler, the two reportedly didn't get along at all during shooting.

Jones, who was reluctant to take the part and largely did so for his son, evidently wasn't too keen on Carrey's rubber-faced mugging, as when the two bumped into one another at a restaurant mid-shoot, Jones said to Carrey, "I hate you. I really don't like you."

When Carrey asked him to elaborate, he did so in the most Tommy Lee Jones fashionable imaginable, telling him, "I cannot sanction your buffoonery." Incredible.

Late director Joel Schumacher also confirmed that Jones didn't treat Carrey well during the shoot, adding, "He was not kind to Jim Carrey when we were making Batman Forever."

While in fairness the vitriol seems more-or-less one-way, Carrey opined that Jones might've been irritated that his' 1994 film Cobb was released the same weekend as Dumb and Dumber and promptly got steamrolled commercially.

Carrey at least seems pretty chill about it all these days, saying in 2017, "He's a phenomenal actor, though. I still love him."
