10 Actors Who Really Don't Belong In Upcoming Movies
5. Bradley Cooper - Joy
Bradley Cooper - an otherwise great actor - is wrong for Joy for an entirely different reason than most of the actors included on this list. It's not that he's necessary wrong for the part (playing that of a Home Shopping Network executive); it's simply that his starring in this movie is an inherently annoying and exhausting prospect. That's to say, Joy - based on the life of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano - is yet another movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (and Robert De Niro), written and directed by David O. Russell, who previously helmed the motion pictures Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Joy will mark his third collaboration with all three actors. Jennifer Lawrence... well, we can handle that, given that she's the lead character. De Niro in a minor role? Whatever. But having Cooper back again (his fourth film with Jennifer Lawrence, by the way) feels incessant in a way that is almost ridiculous. Why not give Lawrence the chance to develop a bit of chemistry with another actor? We've already seen what she can do alongside Cooper, after all (too many times to count). O. Russell's decision to include him again feels like an oversight; a miscalculation. It won't add to the movie in as much as it'll take away from it.
