10 Actors Who Retired Way Too Early
6. Rick Moranis
It’s a little difficult to really dislike Rick Moranis.
Whether it was in his roles as the dorky, yet lovable weirdo in movies like Ghostbusters and the wildly underrated Club Paradise, or as the friendly father figure in movies like Little Giants and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids series. Then of course there was his role as the evil Dark Helmet in the Mel Brooks hilarious romp Spaceballs, which was a spoof of Star Wars. In the 1980s and 90s they were a few people more likable, or sought after than Moranis.
It almost seem like he was everywhere yet then after a while, he was nowhere. The Canadian comedic veteran of SCTV decided that the acting gig was no longer for him in 1997, deciding to take a break and focus on raising his two children as a single parent. Even in real life he's a great dad. The hiatus turned into full fledged retirement except for a voice over in 2003's Brother Bear, but Moranis doesn't seem to be all that itchy to get back.
