1. Kenny Baker - Star Wars: Episode VIII
Despite the fact that you never actually see Kenny Baker in any of the Star Wars movies, it's nice to know that the same actor has been inside R2-D2's metallic shell for the span of the entire series. Baker, now 81-years-old, was credited as a "consultant" on Episode VII, but he was still the guy calling the shots as far as R2-D2's character was concerned. But not longer, people! Sadly, the 111cm tall legend that is Kenny Baker won't be returning to play - or even consult on - R2-D2 for the next chapter in the Star Wars saga. That's right: Baker has been replaced by Doctor Who actor Jimmy Vee, who was spotted on the set of Episode VIII inside the R2-D2 unit, shooting scenes with actor Mark Hamill. The strangest thing about all this, however, is that there's been no real confirmation or announcement from Disney with regards to the matter: surely this is something that most Star Wars fans would like to be made clear? Baker is a beloved part of the franchise, not somebody to be swept quietly under the rug. His departure truly marks the end of an era. Like this article?
