10 Amazingly Subtle Details You Never Noticed In Famous Movies

7. "Sherman Peabody" Was A Time-Travelling Duo From The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show - Back to the Future

Back To The Future1 Back to the Future is dense will all sorts of crazy references to things that have happened, might happen, and happened as a result of Marty McFly's trip back to 1955, where he accidently prevents his parents from meeting, and has - for some reason - a week or so to try to get them back together. But that's not the only problem he encounters - when he first arrives in 1955, he crashes the DeLorean into the Peabody farm, where an angry farmer - Mr. Peabody - and his son, Sherman, mistake Marty and his shiny futuristic vehicle as an alien invasion of sorts. "Sherman Peabody" sounds like it could be the name of any old kid '50s, because weren't all kids called Sherman back then? In actuality, the name is a subtle reference to a couple of characters who used to make appearances on The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show - a super-intelligent dog named Mr. Peabody, and his adopted human, Sherman, who were renowned for their time-travelling adventures. Given the age of the show, it's doubtful that anybody nowadays would get such a reference - there is an animated movie about the duo coming in 2014, though.
