10 Awesome Movies With Terrible Endings

Make no mistake, Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most impressive pieces of filmmaking in cinema history.

Overflowing with iconic performances, outstanding visual effects, moving sequences, and more epic battles than you thought was ever possible in three (admittedly huge) films, the vast majority of this Middle-earth quest is certainly awesome.

However, Jackson's incredible trilogy also unfortunately possesses one of the most irritating closing stretches of all time.

After already taking in a mammoth two hours and 45 minutes of action, viewers finally watch the One Ring fall into Mount Doom in The Return of the King. And roll credits.

Wrong.

Jackson then proceeds to drag the movie's ending out over thirty never-ending minutes, following up the admittedly emotion reunion of what's left of the Fellowship in Rivendell with another couple of moving but painfully drawn-out goodbyes.

Die-hard fans of all things LOTR were likely in no rush to leave Middle-earth even after the war was won, but everyone else sat watching on agreed that the director not knowing when to call it a day here did more harm than good.
