10 Awesome Recent Horror Movie Kills You Probably Missed

5. Cayetanin - The Coffee Table

Though The Coffee Table has become something of a word-of-mouth hit in recent months, it's fair to say that all but the most die-hard of horror fans have given it something of a wide berth - and with good reason.

Though the marketing implied that the film revolves around a cursed coffee table, that's not quite the case.

The inciting, jaw-dropping incident that critics have desperately danced around spoiling is that, shortly after buying said coffee table, protagonist Jesús (David Pareja) accidentally drops his newborn son Cayetanín on the table's glass pane, killing him instantly.

The death of a child is an inherently horrifying thing, whether you're a parent or not, but here it serves as the jolting primer for all the gut-wrenching black comedy that ensues. Jesús spends the rest of the movie desperately attempting to conceal his son's brutal demise from his wife María (Estefanía de los Santos), as becomes increasingly squirm-inducing all the way to the film's inevitably bleak conclusion.

Nobody could blame you for skipping this, but despite the "edgy" subject matter, the execution is genuinely quite brilliant.
