10 Best Bad Movies Since 2000

He’s come in for his fair share of criticism, but with House Of The Dead Uwe Boll made one of the best bad films of the 2000s and the fact that it isn’t currently playing on a double bill with Troll 2 or The Room is an oversight that requires attention.

Boll’s first video game movie has it all: gratuitous nudity, bad acting, stupid characters, gratuitous nudity, howlingly hilarious dialogue and did you know there’s gratuitous nudity in this movie? Dr Stephen Hawking reckons you can measure a movie’s tackiness by how long it takes the women to get naked, something Boll accomplishes in the first ten minutes which rates 8/10 (“mindlessly tacky”) on the Hawking-o-meter.

Speaking of unintentionally hilarious dialogue, don’t miss the scene where the movie’s villain explains the reason why he wants to be immortal: “To live forever!”

Thanks for clearing that up, Uwe.

When it comes to lowest common denominator thrills liberally sprinkled with guffaws, Boll’s your man and House Of The Dead is his best effort in that regard. In a perfect world, all “bad” movies would be this good.
