10 Best Films To Watch On Netflix UK This Halloween

9. Gerald's Game

Based on the novel by Stephen King, Gerald's Game incorporates the very best of King's eye for all things truly gut-churning paralleled with realistic characters, often proving that the scariest monsters are the ones that are entirely human.

When Jessie is handcuffed to the bed and her husband suffers a heart attack, there's no feasible way for her to escape. Trapped on her own with an open door letting in the elements as well as any other passing dangers, she has to think creatively if she has any hope of surviving - never mind escaping.

With only one character in one room, the premise has to be a strong one to hold any weight, and Gerald's Game has a monster of a third act to prove that entirely true. Utilising flashbacks and traumatic events as lynchpins to push the narrative forward, it's a perfect blend of spooky watching with personal tragedy, and a Netflix gem to be taken advantage of whilst it's still here.
