4. Blade 2 - Scud
Blade offers up campy vampire horror on demand, and for this entry we’re going to look at someone better known for one of the other big three monster horror genres. Norman Reedus, whose biggest project is arguably AMC’s zombie-based The Walking Dead, appears in Blade’s second instalment as Blade’s new traitorous technician.
Towards the end of the film, Scud reveals himself as a traitor but Blade had suspected this all along. Whistler and Blade appear to be at the mercy of the evil forces, with Reinhardt and Scud flexing on them without a care.
Reinhardt pulls an explosive charge from the back of his head and throws it to Scud, the both of them thinking nothing of it as a harmless dud. There’s a bit of over-confident back and forth before Blade decides he’s had enough and reveals “it’s not a dud”, detonating the charge and blowing Scud up in the process.
Scud looks down at the charge in his hand and the camera zooms in as you see the realisation wipe across his face. He doesn’t even have time to try to throw the charge away or argue, he just stares in utter disbelief before he gets liquidised by the explosion. At least we knew Scud died and so Daryl could be born...
