10 Best Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
1. Joker
Even before the release of this trailer, the idea of a standalone Joker movie caught the interest of many people. After this trailer dropped, however, the interest in this film evolved into waves of uncontrollable excitement.
One of the striking things about this teaser is how it makes you feel sorry for the titular character. In less than a minute, Arthur Fleck is beaten by a group of strangers and left weeping on the street.
As dark and sinister as parts of the trailer undoubtedly are, Jimmy Durante’s ‘Smile’ is the primary song used throughout this teaser. When heard in isolation, 'Smile' is light and upbeat, but in this context, it heightens the Joker’s aura of madness.
Todd Phillips’ direction and Lawrence Sher’s cinematography also stand out. The scene in which Arthur runs through the tunnel is especially mesmerising.
Above all, though, people wanted to get their first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s performance, and from the off, it's clear he's put his heart and soul into this portrayal. Everything from his laugh to his posture is pitch-perfect.
Put simply, this teaser trailer outdid all expectations.
