10 Best Music Sequences In The Shrek Films

5. Pay The Piper (Sure Shot - Beastie Boys)

Forget The Mandalorian, the bounty hunter series the world needs is the origin story of The Pied Piper from Shrek Forever After.

Caught up in his tame family life, Shrek's wish to feel like a real ogre again comes true as wish granting Rumplestiltskin, sends him off to an alternative dimension wherein ogres are hunted and Rumpy rules.

Although this film is the weakest Shrek film, it has one of the greatest henchmen in animated cinema history - The Piper.

This silent assassin, armed only with his pipe, is hired by Rumplestiltskin to enchant the army of ogres to his castle in order to imprison them. Although this scene in itself is hilarious and there is a pipe rendition of Shake Your Booty, the first introduction to The Piper is what makes the list.

Piper enters the fortress playing a hauntingly beautiful tune whilst being carried in by an army of rats. Once in front of Rumplestiltskin and his witch bodyguards, he adjusts his pipe and blasts the opening notes to Beastie Boys' Sure Shot. Much like anybody with a working set of ears, the witches can't help but dance despite wanting to stop thus showing The Piper's true power.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
