10 Best Times Actors Played Themselves

9. Al Pacino - Jack And Jill

It seems odd to put any aspect of Jack And Jill on a complementary list, and in a sense, it is. Adam Sandler’s 2011 sibling comedy is not a good film. In fact, it’s a very bad one, with the majority of the comedy coming from the sight of the comedian in unflattering drag.

What it does boast, however, is Al Pacino playing himself. Pacino has made some dodgy choices in his career, and this ranks along his worth. But the Oscar winner deserves immense credit for the sheer work he puts in on set.

Pacino rarely phones in a performance - indeed he’s more liable to go too far in the other direction - and he mines this shonky script and dreadful premise - that he’s deeply in love with Adam Sandler in the guise of a socially inept woman - for all it’s worth.

He’s the only worthwhile element of the film, and while he’s not able to redeem Jack And Jill, he should be praised for his sheer investment. Pacino is an actor with an underrated funny bone, and he puts it to work here in a role he could’ve sleepwalked through. Here’s hoping the payday was a sizeable one - he deserves it.
