10 Big Actors Who Are Skipping Movies In 2018

Much like Daniel Craig, the fact that Ben Affleck doesn't have any movies coming out in 2018 isn't a massive surprise.

In recent years, he's been dealing with his split from Jennifer Garner, enduring fan backlash against his turn as Batman (and backlash against the DCEU in general) and coping with alcoholism, a problem that has plagued him for much of his adult life.

All factors considered, the guy needs a break - and not starring in any 2018 movies will allow him to stay out of the public eye as much as possible.

This time will also give him chance to consider his future as Batman, something that's been in doubt for many months. Affleck was originally going to star in, write and direct a solo Batman movie, before dropping the latter two duties to focus solely on acting.

But the disappointing response to Batman V Superman and Justice League has made it less likely that he'll do even that, with Affleck not exactly instilling confidence in fans with his vague and non-committal thoughts on the subject.

Batman aside, Affleck has two acting projects in the works: a sequel to The Accountant, and Witness for the Prosecution, a remake of the 1957 film of the same name. Whichever one releases first is pure guesswork at this point.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
