10 Big Actors Who Are Skipping Movies In 2018

1. Will Smith

Next Movie: Spies In Disguise (2019)

It feels like Will Smith stars in a new movie every five minutes, so the fact that he's taking a whole year off is nothing short of a minor miracle.

A Hollywood mainstay since the mid-1990s, Smith has appeared in at least one film a year since Bad Boys in 1995 (besides a gap from 2008 - 2012). The rate at which he pumps out movies is astounding, and his upcoming time off will leave a hugely noticeable hole in 2018, right where a Big Willy should be.

Fortunately, once 2018 is over, it's business as usual for the Fresh Prince. He will undoubtedly be starring in Suicide Squad 2 (which is currently in development), is filming Guy Ritchie's Aladdin remake as we speak, and it was recently revealed that Netflix's Bright - in which Smith played a grizzled cop - will be getting a sequel.

But his next film is Spies In Disguise, a family adventure that launches in January of 2019. Smith will voice one of the lead characters (alongside Tom Holland), and though that January date isn't the most confident of release strategies, it will be good to have Smith back on the big-screen once again.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
