10 Bizarre Movie Moments You Just Accepted
3. Joker Just Leaves After Throwing Rachel Out The Window - The Dark Knight
In the wake of using a very poor choice of words, 'The Dark Knight' launches himself out of a window to save his beloved Rachel from certain death after The Joker opted to very much "let her go."
This being the mighty Batman, of course he manages to get ahold of his falling love and break her fall. But that impressive act ultimately drew attention away from what must have been a pretty unsettling scenario back up in Bruce Wayne's penthouse.
'The Clown Prince of Crime' was still definitely left in a room full of innocent party guests after 'The Bat' opted to keep Rachel from becoming a pancake. However, after Rachel is told by Batman that Harvey is safe, the movie swiftly cuts to a Commissioner Gordon conversation.
So... did the Joker just viciously slaughter a penthouse full of civilians in the moments post-Bat-fall? Or did he just suddenly decide the party was over and fled the scene?
Well, weirdly enough, it was actually revealed in the film's novelisation (via Insider) that the latter was what went down next, with Batman spotting Joker hitching a ride in an SUV outside of the building shortly after their tumble.
That still doesn't explain why 'The Caped Crusader' didn't decide to then pursue the bloke who'd just tried to kill the woman he loved. However, if this 'Bat' had gotten his hands on the clown so early in the story, this classic flick would've probably been a whole lot shorter.
