10 Changes That Make Beauty And The Beast Worse Than The Original

4. The Visual Effects During Be Our Guest

Whether you love or loathe computer generated imagery, it's here to stay in modern movie making. From the subtle or overblown, CGI can work wonders. Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2.

Yet during standout song 'Be Our Guest' sung, rather capably, by Ewan McGregor, the CGI kicks into high gear but comes off as gaudy. Gone are the slapstick fights between Lumière and Cogsworth and in their place are overdone visual effects.

The colours are muted and the heart of the scene feels missing without Cogsworth trying to keep everyone quiet lest the singing and dancing wakes up the Beast. No doubt the animation of Lumière himself is excellent but it doesn't feel the same and lacks the wit and charm of the original.

The only real joke is that poor Belle doesn't actually get a bite to eat during the entire mealtime!
