10 Comic Book Movie Performances So Boring It Actually Hurt

1. Rachel Dawes - Katie Holmes - Batman Begins

Christian Bale. Gary Oldman. Michael Caine. Morgan Freeman. Katie... Holmes? It's safe to say that, looking back on Katie Holmes' role as love interest Rachel in Batman Begins, that she doesn't really gel with Christopher Nolan's movie at all, and seems to have been implemented because... well, why was she implemented? Has it ever made any sense? Replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal for the sequel, of course, who is far improved and far more believable in her feistiness, it's really a wonder as to why Bruce Wayne was ever enamoured or attracted to this girl: she's a bore. So whereas Holmes is sort of cute in that way that Katie Holmes is cute, she also plays Rachel like she's just been removed from a plastic packaging box. Her performance is lightweight and curiously one-note - it genuinely feels like she's wandered out of a classroom and into rehearsals for a school play. To say that Holmes is a tedious as Rachel is to understate it: she gets plenty of dialogue and screentime to make allow herself to be memorable, but botches it purely because - as an actress - she's not strong enough. We should count our blessings she bailed. Like this article? Agree of disagree? Let us know in the comments section below.
