James Gunn was actually at one point rumoured to be in the running to direct the third Avengers movie - that was before it was revealed to be the two-part Avengers: Infinity War - but he has since made it clear that his focus for the time being is on the Guardians Of The Galaxy. However, as they will surely play a role in the movie, could Gunn join them? It makes sense. Even if Thanos attacks Earth (which is a much less interesting option than having Earth's Mightiest Heroes head off-planet), at least some of the action would take place in outer space.
