10 Dream Directors Who Would Nail The Next Bond Film
5. Kathryn Bigelow
With a fantastic filmography behind her, Bigelow could bring a lot of weight to Bond's damaged psyche given his chaos-ridden past.
She could emulate the trauma and PTSD displayed in her Best Picture winning The Hurt Locker, which won a total of 6 Academy Awards. Depicting the effects of war on individuals would transfer perfectly to showing similar psychological damage being done to Bond, a man who has done a lot of bad to protect his country.
Also, Bigelow could bring familiar themes of moral obscurity and desperation that she showcased in Zero Dark Thirty. This experience would serve well in showing the lengths Bond could be forced to go to for MI6 and the greater good of the country.
Most recently, with Detroit, Bigelow creates an exceptional sense of claustrophobia and horror in the film's second act, which would be a perfect fit for creating a sinister and threatening villain.
Given that she pulled such a frightening and gripping performance out of Will Poulter in Detroit, the possibilities of what she could do with a more seasoned actor and villainous role are endless.
