10 Films Hollywood Could Remake With All Female Casts
2. The Fugitive
The Original: US Marshal Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) leads a nationwide manhunt for Dr Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford), who’s accused of murdering his wife.
The Remake: Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar for his performance, leaving some pretty big shoes to fill. Kim Dickens, Ben Affleck’s cop nemesis in Gone Girl, might work out, or if the studio insists on a marquee name, there’s always Sigourney Weaver. Pit either one of those against Angelina Jolie, and you’ve got some fireworks.
Would It Work? There have been dumber ideas – let’s not forget Wrongfully Accused, a Fugitive spoof starring Leslie Nielsen. Also, when US Marshals attempted to tell the same story, nobody was blown away by the resulting movie (Empire called it, “generic, uninspired and devoid of suspense”). A female-oriented reboot might be just the ticket.
