10 Forgotten Sci-Fi Horror Movies That You Need To Watch
3. Tetsuo II: Body Hammer
You might be familiar with the cult arthouse horror Tetsuo: The Iron Man, a gritty and terrifying film that saw a Japanese salaryman turned into a monstrosity of metal and biology. But, while that infamous movie's legacy has persisted, the reputation of its spiritual, bigger-budgeted sequel hasn't done quite so well.
The narrative follows Taniguchi Tamoo, played by the same actor who took the lead in the original Tetsuo. After his son is kidnapped, his life gets thrown into chaos, and rage turns him into a synergy of flesh and metal, going on a rampage against a mad scientist.
Unlike Tetsuo: The Iron Man, an artsy and subtle flick, this is a balls to the wall action-horror full of fun practical effects and a solid visual identity. It carries a sense of heaviness and metal whilst still producing some over-the-top and fast-paced action sequences.
It indeed sacrifices some of the individuality of the previous movie, becoming more of a generic revenge flick spliced with some body horror, but it's still a worthwhile ride.
