10 Good Actors Trapped Making Terrible Movies
4. Jim Carrey
Much like Will Smith, Jim Carrey's output has slowed down considerably in recent years, as his box office popularity has waned and his typical comedy shtick hasn't been so warmly embraced by critics.
Carrey's last positively-reviewed movie was 2010's I Love You Phillip Morris, a daring dramatic role for the actor and the last time he really seemed to be making much of an effort on-screen.
Since then, the legendary comedian's movies have been bad-to-terrible: Mr. Popper's Penguins, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Kick-Ass 2, Dumb and Dumber To and The Bad Batch.
Carrey was the focus of a terrific documentary last year, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, but in terms of appealing feature projects, he's been struggling for a good while, and has no upcoming movies on his slate right now.
Considering how easily Carrey could have a career resurgence as a grizzled, more serious older actor, his general non-activity feels like such a waste.
