10 Great Comedy Sidekicks Who Completely Stole The Movie

8. The Genie - Aladdin

Genie-Aladdin Sure, Aladdin's name is in the title, but it's no coincidence that the Genie takes up 3/4 of the space on the DVD cover. Robin Williams has never been the type of actor who just fades into the background, and this holds true even in his voice work. His larger than life performance fills the movie with a vibrancy and energy that it simply couldn't have had without him. (For proof, see Return of Jafar.) The Genie serves as Aladdin's fairy godmother, moral compass, and personal one-man vaudeville show all rolled into one. That's not something just anyone can do. While Williams' go-to celebrity impressions are a bit tiring and have a tendency to date the film, his improvisational method of rapid fire comedy ensures that there's a great deal more hits than misses in the joke department.
