10 Great Films Featuring Super Awkward Kissing Scenes
5. Captain America: Civil War
One of the strongest films in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, the otherwise brilliant Captain America: Civil War features a kiss scene which becomes a little awkward in hindsight.
Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) enjoy a will-they-won't-they flirtation throughout both The Winter Soldier and Civil War. The simmering chemistry between the First Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent is undeniable, and, when the pair finally kiss in Civil War, their steamy smooch is certainly satisfying.
However, following the events of Avengers: Endgame, their romance becomes slightly uncomfortable. We learn that Steve eventually married his one-true-love, Peggy Carter, and that they basically lived happily ever after.
This does raise some questions regarding Sharon and Steve. We know that Peggy and Sharon are definitely related, as is implied by their shared surname, but where does Steve fit into this? While the kiss was certainly not incestuous, with Sharon clearly hailing from the Carter side of the family, Steve is the man who would eventually become her uncle through marriage. In hindsight, this previously racy scene is very confusing, a little problematic, and certainly not romantic.
