10 Horror Movie Monsters You Were Completely Unprepared For
2. All Of Them - Mad God
There are so many unnerving creatures in Phil Tippet's experimental stop-motion extravaganza, it's impossible to focus on one of them.
The underworld in Mad God is ruled by a mysterious entity with rotten teeth, who only speaks in baby babble. His domain is populated by malformed beings, many of which are fused with machinery. This dilapidated region is also infested with monsters akin to insects and formless blobs that squelch and defecate as they wobble around. To amplify the fright factor further, many of these animals are bound, mutilated, or in a state of permanent agony.
Even when the monsters harbour no ill will, they still manage to be unsettling. The faceless drones are innocent, but it's disturbing to watch them enduring a brutal level of labour, which often concludes with them being squished, tortured, and discarded.
Mad God is devoid of dialogue, so there's an unknowable factor to all these characters. It's unclear how any of these... things came to be, which makes their distorted appearances significantly more frightening.
Although each of these creatures is drastically different, they all find a way to get under your skin.
