10 Horror Movie Villains Who Would Have Won By Doing NOTHING

5. The Xenomorph - Alien

Underworld Rise Of The Lycans Viktor
20th Century Fox

As excellent and definitive of a film 1979's Alien is, there is one glaring flaw in its plot.

The crew of the Nostromo accidentally bring aboard an extra-terrestrial parasite that eventually blossoms into a full-blown monster via the medium of John Hurt's chest.

The Xenomorph then stalks the space travellers, picking them off one by one before Sigourney Weaver gets sick of its intergalactic bullplop and chucks it out of the airlock.

It's one of the greatest horror movies ever made, with a brilliantly simple premise; a stealthy creature hunting down a bunch of frightened humans in an enclosed space.

But that's the problem; the Xenomorph is good at hiding.

Why doesn't the creature just stay hidden inside the Nostromo until it reaches Earth? It wants access to a larger population in order to reproduce, so just wait the journey out until it's over.

You could argue that it had to kill the crew after they saw the chestburster, but if the Xenomorph is as intelligent as we've been shown, then surely it could have done that when no one was looking.

Is that how it works?
